Human Resource Recruiter 

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced HR Recruiter for a temporary, in-office assignment in the shipyard industry. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in recruitment, preferably within the maritime sector, and be bilingual to effectively communicate with a diverse workforce. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties will be assigned to support the overall HR department based on the organization’s production workload. 

  1. Assist with implementing recruiting strategies to meet current or anticipated craft staffing needs as directed. 

  1. Perform searches for qualified job candidates, using sources such as company re-hire database, company applicant log, Texas Workforce Commission, computer databases, networking, Internet recruiting resources, media advertisements, job fairs, recruiting firms, employee referrals, etc. 

  1. Upon receipt of manpower request, locate applicants with appropriate qualification. 

  1. Interview applicants to obtain information on work history, training, education, or job skills and match current needs by evaluating qualifications and/or specified licensing, according to established guidelines. 

  1. Inform job applicants of details such as duties and responsibilities, compensation, schedules, and working conditions. 

  1. Schedule applicants for required skills testing with the QC Department, receive test results, and classify new employees according to the current rate scale.  

  1. Select qualified job applicants or refer them to managers, making hiring recommendations when appropriate. 

  1. Schedule & conduct new hire orientation. 

  1. Evaluate selection or testing techniques by conducting research conferring with management and/or field supervisory personnel. 

  1. Maintain current knowledge of Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) and affirmative action guidelines and other labor laws. 

  1. Maintain awareness of current industry trends. 

Required Education & Experience: 

  1. Associate degree (preferred) in related field or commensurate experience. 

  1. Two to five years’ experience in Human Resource/Recruiting field. 

Working Conditions: 

  1. Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment and be able to attend meetings at various sites within and away from office. 

  1. Mobility to climb up and down stairs, as needed. 

  1. Strength to lift and carry materials weighing up to 20 pounds. 

  1. Vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, including the ability to look at a computer screen for at least eight hours each day. 

  1. Hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone. 

  1. Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions. 

Necessary Equipment Operation: 

  1. Office equipment, including telephone, fax machine, scanner, computer, printer. 

Special Skills: 

  1. Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred. 

  1. Able to work in a highly confidential manner. 

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  1. High performance and a strong team player. 

  1. Strong Organizational skills. 

  2. Commitment to company values, policies and procedures and safety program.
