General Foreman

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.  

  1. Knowledgeable in one or more craft trades such as welding, pipe/plate/structural fitting, rigging, electrical, mechanical, machining, etc. 

  1. Assist Superintendent and able to perform all the requirements of a foreman. 

  1. In charge of multiple foremen.  

  1. Supervise, coordinate, or assist the activities of the Foreman. 

  1. Analyze workers or production problems and recommend solutions, such as improving production methods or implementing motivational plans. 

  1. Confer with managerial or technical personnel, other departments, or contractors to resolve problems or to coordinate activities. 

  1. Estimate material or worker requirements to complete jobs. 

  1. Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and yard sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met. 

  1. Record information such as personnel, production, or operational data on specified forms or reports. 

  1. May assist Foreman with crew time sheets and Job Safety Analysis (JSA). 

Required Education & Experience: 

  1. High School Diploma and/or one year certificate from college or technical school preferred.  

  1. Industrial and/or marine journeyman experience, along with a minimum of 5 years supervisory experience preferred. 

Working Conditions: 

  1. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, etc. 

  1. You must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE. 

  1. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved. 

  1. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.  

  1. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials. 

  1. Aboard ships, both on and offshore as well as confined spaces. 

Special Skills: 

  1. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures. 

  1. Strong Organizational skills 

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings and technical manuals. 

  1. Perform basic mathematical functions. 

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  1. High performance and a strong team player.
