Sandblaster 1st Class
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.
Safely operate all machinery, equipment, and tools essential to the performance of Sandblaster's position.
Be able to safely direct blast of abrasive-laden compressed air or water against metal or hard-composition objects to remove adhering scale, sand, paint, grease, tar, rust, and dirt and to achieve proper/required surface profile as required
Be able to always maintain safe control of blasting hose. Be able to utilize, maintain and adjust safety controls, pressure regulators and/or mixing valve properly and safely. Be able to correctly apply masking materials to protect designated areas from damage resulting from the abrasive blasting process.
Performs daily inspection, service and maintain all assigned blasting equipment.
Perform daily inspection of all other equipment that may be needed to safely access and accomplish sandblasting work assignment- Fall harness, manlift, scaffolding, PPE, etc.
Be able to read and understand all safety precautions and environmental requirements.
Be able to pass a fit test for respirator equipment.
Required Education & Experience:
High School Diploma, One year certificate from college or technical school; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Working Conditions:
Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, etc.
You must wear hearing, eye, facial, hand and head protection and proper PPE.
Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.
Working in hot and sometimes hazardous conditions.
Aboard ships, both on and offshore and in confined spaces.
Some travel is required.
