Location: Port Arthur, Texas

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.  

  1. Knowledgeable in specific craft trade such as welding, pipe/plate/structural fitting, rigging, electrical, mechanical, machining, etc. 

  1. Responsible for a team or group of employees. 

  1. Assist foreman in coordinating or scheduling the activities of workers based on material or worker requirements of specific jobs. 

  1. Train and help workers in repair or construction methods, operation of equipment, safety procedures, or company policies. 

  1. Should be the go-between for employees assigned to his/her group and management for solving problems and addressing general questions.  

  1. Confer with foreman and/or general foreman to resolve problems or to coordinate activities. 

  1. Examine and inspect work progress, equipment, and yard sites to verify safety and to ensure that specifications are met. 

  1. May evaluate employees’ performance and report to foreman and/or general foreman. 

  1. Arrange for repairs of equipment or machinery. 

  1. May be responsible for assigned crew time sheets and Job Safety Analysis (JSA). 

Required Education & Experience: 

  1. High School Diploma and/or one year certificate from college or technical school preferred.  

  1. Minimum 4 years of Industrial and/or marine journeyman experience preferred. 

Working Conditions: 

  1. Open-air conditions such as noisy, hot, cold, etc. 

  1. You must wear hearing, eye, head protection and proper PPE. 

  1. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved. 

  1. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.  

  1. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials. 

  1. Aboard ships, both on and offshore as well as confined spaces.

Special Skills: 

  1. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures. 

  1. Strong Organizational skills 

  1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings and technical manuals. 

  1. Perform basic mathematical functions. 

  1. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. 

  1. High performance and a strong team player.
